TECHNOLOGY

Serato DJ 5.0 has been officially released after the beta closed. The update introduces Lucid Beatgrids, a rebuilt analysis engine with improved downbeat detection, better overall accuracy and automatic tempo tracking.

Lucid Beatgrids displays BPM changes in the waveforms and adds analysis modes and editing tools such as Set Grid Start and Set Beat. Tracks must be re-analyzed to use it, while existing beatgrids are not overwritten.

The release includes Serato iOS Transfer, which moves crates and songs from a laptop to Serato DJ for iOS on iPhone and iPad, including cue points, beatgrids and metadata. Transfers can be done wirelessly or by cable and require Serato DJ 5.0 on the laptop.

Open Streaming allows users to log in to enabled streaming services at the same time, while Cue Loops triggers a Hot Cue and a loop from the same marker. Other additions include Protect Library Returns, the return of M3U/M3U8 import, Key and BPM display for selected streamed tracks and new default Tidal DJ playlists.
