Idle Foundry releases CA-72, a free Minimoog Model D-inspired plugin

Idle Foundry has released CA-72, a free and open-source plugin inspired by the Minimoog Model D. According to MusicTech, it was developed from the circuit boards of an original 1970s Model D.

The plugin was modelled from the Model D’s CA3046 oscillator board, with data placed into a SPICE Netlist and simulated in ngspice to build real-time models. Idle Foundry has also shared the source code and circuit notes.

CA-72 adds modern features beyond the Minimoog Model D’s monophonic limit, with a POLY mode offering two to ten voices, per-voice variation, drift, stereo spread and feedback control. It includes three oscillators, filter controls and contours for filter and loudness.

Version 0.1.0 includes 24 factory presets and a preset library with search, favourites and tags. The plugin is available for free on GitHub in VST3 and CLAP formats for macOS, Windows and Linux.
