SoundExchange and MusicNation sign reciprocal neighboring rights agreement

SoundExchange has signed a reciprocal agreement with Music Nation Copyrights Management, MusicNation, covering neighboring rights in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

Under the deal, artists and rights owners registered with SoundExchange will be paid when their recordings are played in the UAE, while Emirati creators will receive payments when their music is played in the US.

The agreement, announced on September 17, expands the partnership the two organizations began in March 2025, when SoundExchange started providing technology, data and expertise to support neighboring rights administration in the UAE.

The system also allows some SoundExchange partner collective management organizations to collect Emirati royalties through existing agreements with the Washington, D.C.-based organization.
