Brussels-based music technology company Ambrio has unveiled the Spatial Performance Mixer, or SPM, a five-channel standalone DJ mixer designed for real-time spatial sound control.
Each channel includes trim, 4-band EQ, HP/LP filter and cue, plus independent 360° audio positioning to place and move sounds through a space. Ambrio says the system requires no external hardware or software and can connect to speakers from any brand.
The mixer needs at least four speakers and, according to the company, can adapt stereo material to the room’s speaker layout through a dedicated algorithm. Ambrio has not announced pricing for the SPM.
Units will be loaned to venues, collectives and academic institutions through an Incubator Programme starting this month, while commercial sales are planned for 2027. The first public showcase is set for Amsterdam Dance Event, with performances on October 23 and masterclasses on October 24 at Loods6.
