HEDD Audio has launched TYPE 40 Main, a compact sealed three-way active monitor, and TYPE 40 System, a modular platform that lets studios add bass output and directional control through XTD modules.

TYPE 40 is aimed at mixing, mastering and post-production rooms as well as larger control rooms. According to HEDD Audio, its high-excursion woofer and sealed cabinet extend response down to 20 Hz without a separate subwoofer, with Class D amplification and peaks up to 123 dB SPL.

Each XTD module includes a 10 3/4-inch woofer and a 700 W Class D amplifier. Up to three XTDs can be installed under each Main; with three modules in Frontfire Ported mode, HEDD Audio cites an increase of up to 15 dB at 50 Hz compared with the Main alone.

XTD modules can operate in Ported or Closed mode and include Cardioid configurations to reduce rearward energy by up to approximately 10 dB. The system is managed over Ethernet with HEDD CTRL; Main and XTD are available through selected partners at £5,999/$7,499/€6,999 and £5,699/$6,999/€6,499 per unit.
