Behringer has shared photos on Facebook of a four-channel standalone DJ prototype called Klark Teknik Anima, presented as pro-style hardware with an expected price of $300 to $400.
The key idea is open hardware: according to Behringer, there will be no proprietary lock-in and users will be free to create software for the unit.
The images show an early prototype, with the jogs and pads not yet fitted. The visible layout includes four channels, eight pads per deck, long pitch faders and a fold-flat central touchscreen.
The rear panel shows a hard drive bay, USB, Ethernet, two mic inputs, XLR outputs and the Klark Teknik badge, a pro audio brand owned by Music Tribe since 2009.
